# Web SDK

The Messaging Web SDK embeds an AI Agent directly into your website or web application. It provides the standard launcher and drawer out of the box, plus a programmatic surface for custom experiences.

With the SDK, you can:

* Embed the AI Agent with a script tag, a module import, or the [`@ada-cx/messaging-sdk`](/messaging/web/getting-started#install-from-npm) npm package.
* Subscribe to events such as new messages, conversation end, and identity token errors.
* Pass end-user context through `metaFields` and `sensitiveMetaFields` for personalized conversations.
* Start identified sessions with a backend-minted `identityToken`.
* Run [headless](/messaging/web/sdk-api-reference#headless) and drive the conversation from your own UI with [programmatic control](/messaging/web/sdk-api-reference#enableprogrammaticcontrol).

## Versioning

The web runtime ships from Ada's CDN and updates automatically. Every page load resolves the current rollout version, so your site receives fixes and features with no maintenance.

The npm package never pins the runtime; its version covers only the loader, the types, and the test mocks. To validate a specific runtime build on a staging page, use the [`?ada-messaging-version` query parameter](/messaging/web/getting-started#validate-a-specific-runtime-version).

## Browser support

The SDK requires these minimum versions for desktop browsers and mobile platforms:
