# ChatGPT

ChatGPT connects to the Ada MCP server over OAuth. These steps cover the ChatGPT desktop app. You add the server once from the **Plugins** settings. Then you authenticate with your Ada credentials. A paid ChatGPT plan is recommended for higher usage limits.

## Requirements

* The [ChatGPT desktop app](https://chatgpt.com/download) installed.
* An Ada dashboard account. Available tools depend on your role. See [Permissions](/mcp/introduction/authentication#permissions).

## Step 1: Add the MCP server

1. Open the ChatGPT desktop app.
2. Click your name in the bottom left.
3. Click **Settings**.
4. In the left sidebar, under **Integrations**, click **Plugins**.
5. Click **Add** in the top right.
6. Select **Add MCP server**.
7. Fill out these values:
   * **Name**: A name for this connection. Example: `Ada`.
   * **Type**: Select **Streamable HTTP**.
   * **URL**: `https://<your-ada-instance-domain>/api/mcp/oauth`. See [Ada instance domain](/mcp/introduction/authentication#ada-instance-domain).
   * Leave **Bearer token env var**, **Headers**, and **Headers from environment variables** blank.
8. Click **Save**.

Save creates the server. It does not connect the server. Continue to Step 2.

## Step 2: Authenticate

1. On the **MCPs** tab of the Plugins page, find the server you created.
2. Click **Authenticate**. Your browser opens the Ada login page.
3. Enter your Ada handle. The handle is the first label of your Ada instance domain. Example: `acme-corp` for `acme-corp.eu.ada.support`.
4. Select the matching domain from the dropdown. Example: `eu.ada.support`.
5. Click **Continue to Login**.
6. Log in with your Ada credentials.
7. On the authorization page, confirm that the redirect address starts with `127.0.0.1`. The page warns that this is an unverified application on your machine. This is expected. See [Troubleshooting](/mcp/introduction/troubleshooting#unverified-application-warning-on-the-authorization-page).
8. Click **Allow access**.
9. Return to ChatGPT. Confirm that the toggle next to the server is on.
10. Ask ChatGPT a question about your Ada AI Agent. See the [prompt library](/mcp/prompt-library/overview) for examples.
