# Configure the Dixa Utilities app

The Dixa Utilities app connects your AI Agent to Dixa and provides the actions used to start a handoff: retrieving nested attributes from Dixa, creating an email conversation (ticket), and starting a live chat. Add and connect the app before configuring the email or live chat handoff.

## Add the app to your AI Agent

The Dixa Utilities app is added to your AI Agent by your Ada team. If you want specific custom attributes to appear as fields on the **Create a ticket (conversation)** or **Start a live chat** actions, share their technical identifiers with your Ada team so they can be mapped when the app is set up.

> Your Ada team will add the Dixa Utilities app to your AI Agent during the integration setup, including any custom attribute fields you request. Contact your Ada representative to proceed.

A custom field maps to the technical identifier of a custom attribute in your Dixa instance. For example, a custom attribute named Inquiry Type with the technical identifier `inquiry_type` can be surfaced as a field on both the **Create a ticket (conversation)** and **Start a live chat** actions. You can add more fields later by sharing the additional technical identifiers with your Ada team.

## Connect the app to Dixa

Once the app has been added to your AI Agent, connect it to Dixa using the API key you created earlier.

**To connect the Dixa Utilities app:**

1. In your AI Agent, go to **Platform → Apps**.
   The Dixa Utilities app is listed under **App integrations**.

2. Click **Connect** and enter the Dixa API key you saved earlier.

3. Click **Save**.
