# Messaging onboarding

## Overview

Prepare your AI Agent, integration, and test plan before you launch [Messaging](/docs/channels/messaging).

## Limitations

[Messaging](/docs/channels/messaging) supports generative AI Agents. Existing installations require different migration steps for script tags, npm packages, and mobile SDKs.

Check platform requirements in the current SDK guides. Do not apply the legacy SDK's minimum operating system versions to Messaging.

## Quick start

Set up [Messaging](/docs/channels/messaging) with your developers. See [Implementation & usage](#implementation--usage) for the launch checks.

**To prepare Messaging:**

1. Confirm your AI Agent's transition with your Ada team.
2. [Choose an experience](/docs/channels/messaging/choosing-an-experience) for your website or app.
3. Open **Config > Channels > Messaging**.
4. Configure **Appearance**, **Launch**, and **Data & privacy** for your requirements.
5. Open **Installation** and share the appropriate guide with your developers.
6. Test the integration on your website or app before you increase availability.

* Review the [migration checklist](/docs/channels/messaging/migrating-to-messaging) for existing integrations.
* Confirm [Knowledge](/docs/knowledge), [Greetings](/docs/automation/greetings), and human support behavior in representative conversations.
* Test each supported language, browser, and mobile presentation mode that your organization uses.
* Test returning users, page refresh, tab closure, sign-out, and account switching.
* Verify your content security policy and [allowed websites](/docs/channels/messaging/messaging-configuration/launch-options).
* Compare [reporting and survey results](/docs/channels/messaging/reporting-and-surveys) before and after the transition.
