# iOS SDK

> **Warning**
>
> Ada has deprecated Chat. Messaging fully replaces Chat on December 15, 2026. Read [Introducing Messaging](https://docs.ada.cx/2026-09-30-introducing-messaging) to learn how to migrate.

This page covers the legacy Chat iOS SDK. Follow the [Messaging iOS upgrade guide](/messaging/ios/getting-started#upgrade-from-the-existing-ios-sdk) to migrate.

The Ada iOS SDK consists of a framework that you can use to [embed Ada in your iOS app](/chat/i-os/getting-started), along with settings and actions that can help you customize the behavior of your bot. You can do things like:

* Programmatically set the bot language
* Specify an initial greeting
* Use metaFields to pass stored information from your backend systems into Ada

> **Warning**
>
> **Session persistence across app restarts is not supported.** The SDK stores session state in the WebView's `localStorage`, which is not guaranteed to survive on iOS. See [Session Persistence](/ios-sdk-reference#session-persistence) for details.

> **Check**
>
> The [iOS SDK reference](/ios-sdk-reference) covers all of the settings and actions available to developers of iOS apps.
