# Linux

## Install

The install script finds your platform, downloads the matching release, checks its SHA256 checksum, and adds `adacli` to your `PATH`.

**To install adacli with the install script:**

```bash
curl -fsSL https://static.ada.support/adacli/install.sh | sh
```

The script installs adacli in `/usr/local/bin` if you can write to that folder. Otherwise, it installs adacli in `~/.local/bin`.

* To choose the folder, set `ADACLI_INSTALL_DIR`.
* To keep your `PATH` as it is, set `ADACLI_NO_MODIFY_PATH=1`.

If you use Homebrew on Linux, you can install adacli with the Homebrew command in [macOS](/adacli/getting-started/mac-os).

## Upgrade

Upgrade with the same method that you used to install adacli.

| Install method | Upgrade command                                                                                 |
| -------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Install script | Run the install script again. If you set `ADACLI_INSTALL_DIR` when you installed, set it again. |
| Homebrew       | `brew upgrade adacli`                                                                           |
